Our History

Germany and Namibia – A Long History Continues

The founders and inspirers of the non-profit organization “Ohole Ambassadors” (registered in Namibia and Germany) are three young men who, themselves, grew up under very difficult conditions in the small town of Okahandja, Namibia.

A Story of Friendship and Hope

"Our parents could not help us find our identity; they couldn`t even cope with the new times themselves. For them, the whites were still gods. Their world had disintegrated long ago." stated Stevo, Tobias and Edwin. For the three young men today, equality no matter of background, tribe or skin colour is a standard which they hope will become the primary supporting factor for this community in Namibia. In his own way, each one of them experienced a personal turning point in their life, but the development of their creative artistic talents played a crucial role for all three of them. And they made a firm determination to put basic Christian values into action, to do something for others, to support children and youth and to have a positive influence on the development of their hometown. Apart from the pre-school, they dream of building a youth centre for teens – to offer an alternative to life on the street – to establish a place where one can be certain to be welcome and where there is creativity.

We know the problems of youth from our own experience. We suffered so much when we were young that we know what a little bit of help can mean.”

Some young people have been personally supported in recent years. The Ohole pre-school was the next step to provide concrete shape to the vision. With the support of young Germans, sponsors could be found in Germany. That whites and blacks can work in a partnership together in such a project is a positive step toward equality in the eyes of the Ohole members a small milestone on the way to overcoming the legacy of apartheid. In particular, the participation of Germans (the former colonial administrators) is perceived as a sign of hope by the new generation.

“Our goal is to channel resources from those that have them to those who need them. We are not heroes – the projects have only become possible because of our great Namibian team, our friends in Germany and because of God`s help”

Who we are

Ohole Ambassadors is a non-denominational, non-profit and non-governmental organization based in Germany and Namibia. The NGO Ohole Ambassadors Namibia (OAN) was founded in 2009 in Okahandja, a small Namibian town. To support its projects, another association, Ohole Ambassadors e.V., was founded in September 2010 in Germany. The main focus of our work is to provide access to education and to support creative talents. Our work is based on Christian core values.

Our Mission

We want to support the education in Namibia with our activities. We want to assist the people to discover their talents and gifts by giving them the possibility to develop and test them practically. We want to build relationships by meeting the people in their situation and by aligning our offers to their needs. We also want to give the opportunity to deal with Christian values, because we believe that they have the potential to change lives.

Our Vision

Starting from Okahandja, 70 km north of the capital Windhoek, we want to serve the people of Namibia – no matter what nationality, culture or religion they have.
